Training of Panchayat representatives of Ladakh begins

The newly elected Panchayat representatives of Ladakh would learn a lot about three tier PR system – Lt Gov of Ladakh

The Lieutenant Governor and administrator of the Union Territory of Ladakh, Radha Krishna Mathur has said that Ladakh and Uttarakhand share common geography and have similar environment for implementation of Panchayat works.   He was virtually addressing the inaugural session of the Exposure visit and training programme of the first batch of Panchayat representatives of Ladakh in Uttarakhand on Monday. He thanked the Commissioner rural development, Ladakh Swagat Viswas, Commissioner and secretary Ladakh Ajit Sahu and secretary Panchayati Raj Uttarakhand H C Semwal for organising the training session. He said that the newly elected Panchayat representatives of Ladakh would learn a lot about creating their own sources of earning, solid waste disposal management, budget making activity,  MNREGA, mission Rural Livelihood and working of three tier Panchayati raj system during their stay in Uttarakhand. He said that the Sarpanchs of Jammu and Kashmir have given excellent feedback about the training they received in Uttarakhand and assured the representatives that the administration would help to solve all issues after returning back to the state after training.

Speaking on the occasion, the secretary Panchayati Raj H C Semwal said both Uttarakhand and Ladakh have similar geographical conditions. He said that the representatives of Ladakh would be shown best practices in Panchayats of Uttarakhand and trained on preparing the plan, NRLM management and solid waste management in the visit. he opined that the cultural relations between the two states would get strengthened by the programme and it would help in moving forward in the direction of philosophy of Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat proposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The first batch has a total of 44 panchayat representatives.  A total of four batches from Ladakh would visit the state.

After the programme the secretary flagged off a vehicle carrying the representatives for field visit. The visiting group visited Vikasnagar block office Dharmawala Gram Panchayat in Dehradun where it interacted with local Panchayat representatives and officials.
