Transport department acts against unauthorised operation of passenger vehicles

The Transport department conducted a checking drive in Dehradun and Haridwar districts against unauthorised operation of passenger vehicles and those operating vehicles without valid documents. The regional transport officer (Enforcement) of Dehradun division, Shailesh Tiwari said that multiple enforcement teams were deployed in various parts of Dehradun and Haridwar districts. The teams in Dehradun and Haridwar took action against 22 and 47 buses respectively. The RTO said that under the leadership of ARTO Rajendra Viratiya, three enforcement teams of transport officers Shweta Rauthan and Anuradha Pant conducted intensive checking of vehicles on ISBT and Haridwar bypass road. They thoroughly checked the vehicles on ISBT and Haridwar bypass road and imposed penalties on 10 buses for various irregularities, out of which two buses were seized. Tiwari said that in Rishikesh, the enforcement team imposed penalties on 10 buses for various irregularities. In the Vikasnagar area, the team imposed a penalty on two buses for violations. The ARTO Rashmi Pant and transport tax officer Kulwant Singh Chauhan conducted the drive and imposed penalties on 47 buses and seized two buses, the RTO said. He stated that the RTO started the drive after getting complaints against the unauthorised operation of passenger vehicles in these two districts. The department will continue the checking drive against passenger vehicles which are operating without valid documents, permits, or are in violation of permit conditions. The drive will be conducted in other districts too, Tiwari added.
