Transport department conducts awareness campaign on road safety and cleanliness at ISBT

The Transport department conducted a special awareness programme focusing on road safety, personal hygiene, health checkups and vehicle cleanliness at the Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT) in Dehradun on Tuesday. The regional transport office (Enforcement and Road Safety) of Dehradun division Anita Chamola said that during the event, pamphlets on road safety, vehicle cleanliness and traffic rules were distributed to drivers and conductors.

The programme also included a cleanliness and hygiene awareness initiative under the “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign, which aimed to promote responsible behaviour among transport workers. The chief guest Rajpur Road MLA Khajan Das addressed the participants and emphasised the importance of safety and discipline in public transport. Chamola also presented a certificate of appreciation to Das for his presence and support of the event. Drivers and conductors were instructed to maintain personal hygiene and keep their vehicles clean. They were encouraged to keep a dustbin in vehicles, avoid spitting in public and wear clean uniforms.

Several officials from enforcement agencies, transport unions and departments such as the 108 Ambulance Service, Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC) and municipal bodies participated in the campaign. Chamola said that the campaign aimed to instill awareness among public transport staff and encourage discipline and cleanliness in their operations.
