Transport department orders ARTOs to collect taxes responsibly
The regional transport officer (administration) of Dehradun, Dinesh Chandra Pathoi has directed the assistant regional transport officer (ARTO) of Rishikesh to responsibly collect the tax from vehicles entering from other States. After recently being instructed by the State transport secretary, Ranjit Sinha to focus on proper tax collection, Pathoi has asked the ARTO of Rishikesh to collect the taxes from the vehicles arriving from other states, especially from the vehicles of other state transport corporations. He stated in his order that the transport office of Rishikesh must issue notices to owners of those vehicles for which taxes are not paid and ensure that taxes paid by them should be as per the distance covered by the vehicles. Same has been directed by the transport department to the ARTOs of Haridwar and Roorkee , said Pathoi. He also informed that the transport department will conduct a meeting with ARTOs of Roorkee, Vikasnagar, Dehradun and Haridwar on Saturday to discuss the issue of tax collection from vehicles of other transport corporations arriving in Uttarakhand.
Meanwhile, the officials also informed that the RTO is also preparing to send notices to owners of about 10,000 commercial vehicle owners who have not paid taxes in the last two years.
