Transport dept appoints nodal officers for Char Dham Yatra

In view of the commencement of Char Dham Yatra in the state, the transport commissioner Deependra Chaudhary has issued orders to the officials concerned after the meeting with the transport secretary Ranjit Sinha on Friday.
The department has appointed deputy transport commissioner Sanat Kumar Singh as the senior in-charge to examine arrangements of the Char Dham Yatra. The regional transport officer (RTO) of Dehradun is appointed as the nodal officer and assistant regional transport officers (ARTOs) of Rishikesh, Dehradun, Haridwar, Uttarkashi, Kotdwar, Pauri, Tehri and Karnprayag as the assistant nodal officers. The nodal officer has been ordered to issue advisory about do’s and don’ts for the pilgrims.
The department has also established a help centre in Char Dham Yatra Bus Terminal in Rishikesh in association with other departments which will remain active from 6 AM to 8 PM. The commissioner informed that temporary check posts have also been set up at Bhadrakali and Tapovan in Brahmapuri to control overloading, overspeeding and illegal operation of vehicles. He has also directed the ARTOs concerned to deploy additional teams to ensure regular checking at check posts on all the main routes. Besides this, the commissioner has also ordered the officials to speed up the process of issuing green cards to commercial vehicles under the Uttarakhand Motor Vehicles Rules, 2011.
