The Regional Transport Office (RTO) team issued 15 challans for violating traffic rules and others during an enforcement operation conducted in the ISBT area on Wednesday. The Regional Transport Officer (Enforcement and Road Safety) for the Dehradun Division Anita Chamola stated that a special campaign is being launched continuously to improve traffic management within the ISBT complex.
Traffic jams frequently occur due to passengers boarding and disembarking at unauthorised locations outside the ISBT area, which causes significant inconvenience for the public and travellers, she said.
She further added that to address this issue, the RTO team in Dehradun is on duty in two shifts to prevent traffic congestion in the ISBT area and ensure smooth operation of public transport. On the day of the operation, a total of 15 challans were issued for various traffic rule violations. These included picking up or dropping off passengers at unauthorised locations and lacking the required documents. Chamola further stressed that, additionally, three State Roadways buses and two Uttarakhand Roadways buses were also issued challans for boarding and deboarding passengers at unauthorised places outside the ISBT.
