Transport dept issues 46 challans & impounds 12 vehicles for overloading

The Transport department conducted an enforcement operation in the Vikasnagar area of Dehradun, resulting in the issuance of 46 challans and the impoundment of 12 goods vehicles for overloading. According to officials from the regional transport office (RTO), the night checks were carried out on Tuesday, between 9 PM and 5 AM, under the instructions of regional transport officer (Enforcement and Road Safety) Dehradun division Anita Chamola. Enforcement teams were deployed along key routes, including from Dat Kali Mandir to Asharodi, Shimla Bypass, Telpur Singhniwala and Selaqui Premnagar. The operation aimed to identify overloaded and overweight goods vehicles.
During this campaign, the joint teams took enforcement action against over 20 overloaded vehicles. Of the 12 goods vehicles impounded, six were taken to Kalsi and Selaqui police stations, while six were held at the RTO checkpost in Asharodi. Most of the apprehended vehicles were found transporting minerals, they added.
The officials involved in the operation included Dehradun transport tax officer Pragya Pant, Vikasnagar assistant RTO Anil Singh Negi, chief administrative officer Sushil Niranjan and members of the Flying Squads. RTO officials stated that such enforcement actions will continue in the future.
