Trekking tour of NCC cadets flagged off from Pithoragarh military station

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) Headquarters, Uttar Bharat Area Lieutenant General DG Mishra flagged off a forward area tour cum trekking for NCC cadets of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand from Pithoragarh military station on Friday. The tour cum trek is being organised by Pithoragarh Brigade and Headquarters Uttar Bharat Area will be carried out in two phases and 41 NCC cadets of UP and Uttarakhand are taking part in it. 

 In the first phase of the expedition the cadets will be taken on a tour to forward areas. Subsequently, it will be followed by a trek to the serene Rama Lake from Dantu village, a less explored trekking route known for its breathtaking beauty and tranquil surroundings in Darma valley.  

In the forward area tour, the cadets will not only spend time with the Indian Armed forces personnel deployed in high altitude terrain of Gunji but also visit the various religious and tourism places in the area such as Kali Mata mandir, Om Parvat, Adi Kailash  and Parvati kund. 

In the second phase, the cadets will trek from Dantu village to Rama Lake which is a relatively untapped trail. During the trek the cadets will also visit the historical Jasuli Devi temple in Dantu village. 

A communiqué from the Indian Army said, “This initiative of Indian Army, as part of its nation building efforts, not only aims to strengthen national integration by engaging cadets with diverse cultures and communities of these regions but also emphasizes the importance of the Vibrant Villages programme. Through their interaction with local villagers in remote and underdeveloped areas, cadets will gain a deeper understanding of rural India’s potential and the efforts being made to bring these regions into the national development narrative.’’
