Tribal women trained on manufacturing, marketing value-added products

A two-day training programme on manufacturing of multiple items like jelly and product marketing for creation of entrepreneurship opportunities was held in Loka village under Sitarganj block of Udham Singh Nagar district under the joint aegis of the department of Agricultural Communication of G B P University of Agriculture and Technology (GBPUAT) and Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kashipur, with the financial support of Indian Council of Agricultural Research. The organisers of the programme said that the objective of the training was to make the women of the tribal community self-reliant and entrepreneurial by providing them technical knowledge of manufacturing various value-added food products. Along with this, a special training was imparted on marketing strategies and how to sell these products through online platforms.
Among those present were the dean, Student Welfare, GBPUAT, A S Jeena and senior professors Arpita Sharma Kandpal and Vandana Srivastava.
As part of the training, raw materials and equipment required for setting up self-employment units were distributed among the women.
