Tributes paid to Chandan Ram Dass, Negi on first day of Assembly session

Glowing tributes were paid by the members of the legislative assembly to the late cabinet minister Chandan Ram Dass and former MLA Kunwar Singh Negi on the first day of the monsoon session of the Assembly on Tuesday. The proceedings of the day started with the condolence motion in which the members paid tributes to the two departed leaders. The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the death of Chandan Ram Dass is a big loss to the State. He said that even in illness Dass worked enthusiastically and dedicated himself for the welfare of the people. The CM said that the State government will carry forward the works initiated by Dass. He also paid rich tributes to the former member of the house, Negi, who represented the Badri Kedar Assembly constituency from the year 1980 to 1984 and from 1984 to 1989.

The leader of the opposition Yashpal Arya said that Chandan Ram Dass had a long political and social career. He said that Dass started his political career with the Congress party and later represented Bageshwar Assembly for four consecutive terms on the BJP ticket.

Cabinet minister Prem Chand Agarwal recalled his long association with Dass and said that he always showered his love on everyone. Tributes were also paid to Dass and Negi by the cabinet ministers Satpal Maharaj, Subodh Uniyal, Ganesh Joshi, Saurabh Bahuguna, Dhan Singh Rawat and other members of the Assembly.
