In latest news from Uttarakhand, the birth anniversary of the legendary Veer Gabbar Singh Negi was celebrated at a commemorative programme held at Chamba Bazaar in Tehri district on Monday. Notably, as a rifleman in the second battalion of the 39th Garhwal Rifles, he had displayed exemplary courage during the First World War. A number of senior officers of the Garhwal Rifle Regiment laid wreath at the memorial. The tale of his valour and dedication in the face of daunting adversity was narrated on the occasion. Among others present was the Tehri MLA Kishore Upadhyay.
