The Haridwar police have arrested three men accused of a number of incidents of chain snatching and vehicle thefts. Senior superintendent of police Yogendra Singh Rawat informed the media on Tuesday that the personnel of Kankhal police station arrested the three accused who had carried out the thefts in various parts of Haridwar. Police have also recovered several stolen chains and two-wheelers. The accused trio used to carry out the crimes while undertaking other jobs in the SIIDCUL area.
Rawat says that many incidents of chain snatching and theft took place in urban areas recently. After detailed investigation, the police arrested Kuldeep Singh, Vishal and Sachin.
The police scanned the footage of several CCTV cameras to trace the accused. Identifying the bikes in the CCTV footage, the police nabbed the trio from the SIIDCUL area. Under interrogation, they confessed to carrying out four chain snatchings and three vehicular thefts in Jwalapur, Ranipur and Kankhal areas. They eluded suspicion initially by being among the many workers in the SIIDCUL area.
