Tripling on a motorbike turned fatal for one of the riders after it fell into a 100-metre gorge near Shivpuri in Tehri district in the wee hours of Friday. A man died at the spot and two sustained serious injuries in this accident.
The victims were going to Kedarnath from Rishikesh on a motorbike late on Thursday night, said the officials. They said that the police received information around 1 AM on Friday that a bike fell into a gorge near Shivpuri. The police reached the spot and called the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team. The officials said that the team started the search operation in the dark and in bad weather which made the search process long and difficult.
The team finally found two men and rescued them with the help of ropes. Both were sent to the hospital for treatment by ambulance. The team also found the body of the third victim who had died at the spot, as per the officials. They said that the body was handed over to the police to carry out further process before handing it over to the deceased’s family.
The officials informed that according to the injured victims, the rider lost control of the bike and it fell into the nearby gorge.
