In latest news from Uttarakhand, a truck skidded off the Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway in Srinagar Garhwal and plunged into Alakananda river. Two persons who were in the truck are feared to have been swept away by the current of the river. Although rescue operation has been continuing since early morning the duo is to be traced. The lorry was heading towards Dungrapanth, police said, adding that the duo was identified as Kundan Singh and Manoj.
The SDRF unit in-charge said that though the accident had happened late in the night they were informed early morning. The villagers informed police after they noticed a truck floating in the river.
