In latest Uttarakhand news, a truck fell into a swollen river breaking the railings of a culvert in Suyalbari area of Nainital after the driver lost control over it. The driver remained untraced till the last report came in. Rescue operation has been going on in full swing, police informed. This accident happened on the extension of Delhi-Nainital national highway stretching from Garampani to Almora. The truck, loaded with construction materials, was heading to Almora from Haldwani when it plunged into the river flowing in spate after breaking a part of the culvert. The passers- by informed the nearest police station promptly. A police team rushed to the spot and tried to trace the truck driver. As their efforts failed, a poclain machine was put to use to trace the missing truck driver, but despite all efforts, the driver remained untraced. However, police carried on with the rescue operation. The police team members said that the darkness of the night and the strong current of the rain-fed river affected the rescue operation.
