Truecaller & Karnataka Govt to jointly promote digital communication safety

The global communications and caller ID platform Truecaller is now collaborating with the Electronics and Information Technology department of Karnataka to combat the growing incidents of cybercrime, impersonation and fraud. The company’s release said that the collaboration agreement had been signed in the presence of the State’s minister for Information Technology and Biotechnology Priyank Kharge on Tuesday observed as Safer Internet Day and added that Truecaller would now carry out a series of initiatives to create awareness and build the capacity of citizens across the State to navigate the internet safely and protect themselves from online harms, especially phone-based frauds and scams.
Speaking on the collaboration, Kharge said that the partnership underscored the Karnataka government’s commitment to prioritising the safety of citizens in the digital ecosystem while the chief product officer and managing director, India at Truecaller,
Rishit Jhunjhunwala said that the initiative would enhance digital safety in communication, empowering citizens to make the most of opportunities available to them in the digital world.
