Among the various installations at the prestigious India Art Fair 2025, one artwork stood out for its compelling symbolism and intricate execution—The Contemporary Charmer. Exhibited as part of Abir India’s showcase of emerging talents, the brass sculpture became a centerpiece of discussion, drawing art enthusiasts, critics, and collectors alike. At the heart of the sculpture is a thought-provoking visual metaphor: a necktie—widely recognised as a symbol of professionalism and authority—morphs into cobras, evoking themes of deceit and manipulation. The piece highlights the precarious relationship between immigrants and their legal representatives, raising questions about trust, exploitation, and systemic vulnerabilities.

Explaining the inspiration, Abhishek Tuiwala said, “This piece stems from personal experiences navigating immigration bureaucracy and legal systems. The transformation of the necktie into a snake speaks to the hidden dangers and the fine line between legitimacy and deception in the immigrant journey.” Visitors at the India Art Fair were attracted by the sculpture’s evocative form and potent message. Art curators and collectors appreciated its ability to ignite crucial conversations about contemporary socio-political realities.

Alongside this work, Tuiwala also exhibited Platform (2024), a bold critique of cancel culture, further solidifying the impact of the exhibition. With this latest showcase at India Art Fair 2025, the collaboration with Abir India continues to challenge audiences to reconsider narratives of authority, survival and deception in today’s global landscape.
