‘Twisted Tales and Turns: A Journey through the Unexpected’ written by Smita Das Jain deals with mystifying human experiences. This collection of 20 short stories challenges what seems to be the reality, seeking to blur the boundaries between the reality and illusion.
While this book comprises four sections, each with five stories, the author claims she has traversed diverse genres, from the out of this world mysteries to the future mired in speculative opaqueness, from poignant narratives to emotional complexities, from all-permeating technology to thoughtful dissection of human relationships. With emotions and themes entwined, the twists signify the unpredictability inherent in life.
All the characters may seem to the readers as alive through their struggles, desires and aspirations and may leave them to contemplate on the kernel hidden under the surface of life. The writer says she has tried her best to blend her storytelling with compelling messages, to entertain, captivate and enlighten the readers while keeping her writing style both enchanting and evocative. Her objective, she says, is to prompt the readers to contemplate on life’s intricate facets while weaving entertainment with insight, fusing the mysterious with the ordinary.
