Two couples arrested from Punjab for scam worth crores

The police arrested four people from Punjab’s Rupnagar district in the wee hours of Monday for having allegedly embezzled crores of rupees from investors and banks in Dehradun a decade ago. The accused committed this fraud purportedly to get loans and provide flats to investors in Dehradun. All the accused are shrewd criminals and 12 cases under different acts are registered against them in various police stations of the district, said the Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh. He said that the accused Prem Dutt Sharma and Arun Sagan along with their wives Sunita Sharma and Aradhna Sharma respectively belong to Punjab. They scammed people in 2013 in the name of selling flats in a multi-storey residential complex in the name of Artigo Residency in Rajpur’s Malsi area. The four accused were working as an organised gang to embezzle people’s money and seven cases of fraud are already registered against them in Rajpur police station, the SSP said. He said that the accused were absconding in various cases and the court had also issued non-bailable warrants against them. The police had also raided all possible places in the past but could not nab them despite all these efforts. However, SSP added, the police team continued secretly collecting information about all accused and finally arrested them from Punjab in the wee hours of Monday. Singh said that the accused were living a luxurious life in Punjab and the police will ensure they are brought to justice for their crimes.
