Two day All India IPSC Taekwondo Championship commences

The two-day All India IPSC Taekwondo Championship started at Birla Vidya Mandir here on Wednesday in which teams from eight schools from across the country are participating. The teams participating include Birla Vidya Mandir Nainital; Assam Valley School Assam; Hyderabad Public School Hyderabad; Emerald Height International School Indore; Sanskaar Valley School Bhopal; Rajkumar College Rajkot; Pestle Weed School Dehradun and GD Birla School Ranikhet.
Earlier, in his inaugural speech, the principal of Birla Vidya Mandir Anil Kumar Sharma said that Taekwondo, a Korean martial art, is not just known for physical fitness and self-defence but it also wonderfully inculcates self-control, discipline and mental strength.
Among the dignitaries present during the inauguration of the competition, international hockey player Narendra Singh Bisht was present as the chief guest. In his address, he said that Taekwondo has now become a global sport, being included in the Olympic Games since 2000.
