Two dead, one missing after landslide on Yamunotri route

Two persons including a girl died and one girl is reported missing after a landslide on the bridle path to Yamunotri in Uttarkashi district on Monday. An injured man was earlier rescued from the landslide debris and is said to be out of danger after treatment.
Officials received information about three to five persons being trapped under debris following a landslide near Naukainchi Bhairav Mandir on the route to Yamunotri at 4:12 PM. The National Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Response Force, police and medical teams reached the site to conduct rescue and relief operations. One man was rescued from under the debris and his condition is said to be stable after primary treatment at Jankichatti. According to officials, the body of a girl aged about 11 years and the body of a man were also extricated from the debris. One girl is reported to be missing with efforts underway to find her. Uttarkashi district magistrate Prashant Arya reached the disaster control room to monitor the rescue and relief operation. He directed all those involved in the operation to act swiftly and in coordination. The administration has also appealed to the pilgrims to observe extreme caution in landslide prone areas and ensure that they follow the guidelines and directions issued by the administration during the Yatra period.
