Two people died after the vehicle they were travelling in fell into a 200-metre deep gorge near Tilwada in Rudraprayag district on Friday. The officials informed that after the local police received information about the accident in the afternoon, they called the search and rescue team of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) at the spot. The team along with their safety equipment reached there under the supervision of the additional sub inspector Harish Bangari. The team analysed the spot and started climbing down into the gorge that was about 200 metres deep using a rope. The team observed that the vehicle was crying five people out of which two were dead on the spot. The team rescued the injured people first and brought them out of the gorge on a stretcher. They were sent to the hospital by ambulance for proper treatment. The teams also retrieved the two bodies and handed them over to the district police, the officials said. They also informed that all the victims were locals.
