A mother son duo died in a fatal collision between two cars that occurred on the Haldwani-Kaladhungi road near Mukhani police station in Nainital district on Friday morning. The officials said that the accident occurred when an Alto car and a Volkswagen collided head-on on the Haldwani-Kaladhungi road and the impact was so severe that a mother and her son, who were traveling in the Alto, died on the spot. The three other individuals sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Sushila Tiwari Hospital in Haldwani. The officials informed that the Alto, traveling from Kaladhungi towards Haldwani, collided with the Volkswagen coming from the opposite direction. The intensity of the crash left both vehicles severely damaged. In the Alto car, Kamlesh Singh (40) from Bel Padav and his mother Bhavna Singh (60) lost their lives instantly. Kamlesh’s wife Bhawna Singh (35) was critically injured. The Volkswagen occupants, a man and a woman, also sustained injuries. All injured individuals are currently undergoing treatment at Sushila Tiwari Hospital, they said. The officials informed that the initial investigations suggest that high speed and negligence led to the collision. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examination and a thorough investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing, they added.
