Two foreigners nabbed with cocaine meant for New Year celebration in Mussoorie

The police arrested two foreigners with 33 grammes of cocaine worth Rs 23 lakh in the international market. The cocaine was reportedly meant to be supplied in a lavish New Year party in Mussoorie, Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh said.
He informed that the police had recieved a confidential information about Cobra Gang members’ arrival for drug smuggling after which the police conducted intense checking near Kuthal Gate barrier on Old Mussoorie Road on Sunday. The police arrested two accused, a Tanzanian man Princely (32) with 20 grammes of cocaine and a Zimbabwean Makhoselizwe (22) with 13 grammes of cocaine. The police also seized an electronic weighing scale and 90 plastic packets intended for distribution, the SSP said.
He stated that according to initial inquiries, the duo smuggled cocaine from Delhi to supply it during New Year celebrations and other high-profile parties in Mussoorie. They had planned to target tourists and high-end parties in Mussoorie but were intercepted by the police before they could execute their plan.
The suspects revealed during questioning that they frequently travelled between Dehradun and their home countries, Tanzania and Zimbabwe to maintain their drug network. They procured cocaine in Delhi and distributed it across India through their agents, Singh said. “This seizure is part of an ongoing crackdown on the Cobra Gang, with several members, including seven peddlers, previously arrested along with 200 grammes of cocaine worth Rs 2.5 crore,” he said.
The police have registered a case under sections 8/21/60 of the NDPS Act at Rajpur police station and the investigation is ongoing, he added.
