The Pauri district police nabbed two men for duping people in the name of selling nontrade cement under the garb of a sham company that was said to be operating from Mayur Vihar, New Delhi. The district police brass said that these arrests had been made under Operation Prahar launched in the district as a drive meant to combat land mafias and fraudsters.

Sharing details of the case, a senior district police officer said that the police had acted on the complaint filed by a Kotdwar resident Sahanawaz at Kotdwar police kotwali on June 23, alleging that some unknown persons had defrauded him online of Rs 3.75 lakh in the name of opening a nontrade cement company.   Subsequently, the Kotwali police had registered a case against unknown persons under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code.

Taking a serious note of the alleged swindling case, the district senior superintendent of police (SSP) Shweta Choubey had directed the police personnel to constitute a team to crack the case at the earliest. Acting on the order, the additional superintendent of police Jaya Baloni constituted a police team under the in- charge inspector Kotwali Kotdwar Mani Bhushan Srivastava.

Acting on a tip-off, the police team arrested the two accused identified as Luv Mittal and Rohit Kumar from Mayur Vihar, New Delhi. Police said that they were living there in rented accommodation though they originally hail from Aligarh district in Uttar Pradesh.
