Two, including a ten-month-old child, die as bus crashes into ditch in Haridwar

In latest Uttrakhand news, in a ghastly accident, the bus conductor and a 10-month-old child were killed and at least a dozen passengers were injured as a roadways bus, carrying about 41 passengers, skidded off the main road, overturned and crashed into ditch 20 meters below near Chandi Ghat en route Haridwar. It is learnt that the accident happened as the bus driver lost control over the bus. On being informed, the SDRF from Dalwala post led by ASI Mahavir Singh reached the accident spot. The bus was on its way from Rupaidiha to Haridwar. SDRF personnel assisted by police and fire service personnel pulled the injured passengers out of the mangled bus. But the rescue operation involving the bus conductor who was buried under the bus took time as the bus was cut by cutting instruments. The conductor was rushed to a local hospital. Police confirmed that the bus conductor and a 10-month-old child died in the mishap while the injured were sent to AIIMS Rishikesh.
