A teenage student and a woman died on Monday after a bus carrying over 50 students in Sitarganj, Udham Singh Nagar collided with a truck. The officials informed that the students and some school staff members were out on a tour in a bus to Nanakmatta on the occasion of Children’s Day on Monday. The bus crashed with a truck near Kichha highway when it was returning from the tour in the evening which led to the death of 14-year-old Jyotsna Mazumdar and a 25-year-old female staff member, Lata while many others sustained serious injuries. The locals rushed to the accident site after hearing the students cry for help. The authorities also rushed to the site to carry out the rescue operation after getting information about the mishap. The officials informed that all injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment but doctors later referred 17 injured people to a higher centre considering their deteriorating condition. The Udham Singh Nagar district magistrate Yugal Kishore Pant also visited the hospital and asked the injured about their health.
