Two men arrested for firing at teenager over argument

The police on Wednesday arrested two men on charges of shooting a teenager in Haldwani over an argument about making an IPL cricket team online on April 20. The officials said that a teenage boy was shot by his friend in Haldwani during an argument when they were consuming alcohol at night on April 20. A dispute broke out among friends and the matter escalated to the level that one friend shot the teenager in the chest with a pistol and ran away. The others soon took the victim to the Sushila Tiwari hospital where doctors referred him to a hospital in Bareilly for further treatment. He is still under treatment there. The officials said that the victim is a native of Nepal but was currently living in Dehradun. His friend lived in the Anandpur village of Haldwani’s Transport Nagar area. He had come to his friend’s house about two weeks ago to stay there. The officials said that the police started the investigation after the victim’s uncle registered a complaint against the accused for firing at his nephew with the intention to kill him. The Nainital senior superintendent of police Prahlad Narayan Meena formed teams to investigate the matter and they finally arrested two absconding accused Kishan Thakur and Surendra Singh from near Bel Baba temple in Haldwani on Wednesday. Both accused have confessed to shooting at the victim during an argument in rage over making an IPL cricket team. They claimed that they panicked after shooting at the victim so they escaped from the house. The officials said that the police have arrested them and will present them before the court soon.
