The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) on Monday retrieved the bodies of two men in two different incidents in the Pauri district. The officials informed that a 28-year-old man lost his life after his car fell into a gorge nearly 300 metres deep on Monday morning near Mawadhar village on Kaljikhal road. After the locals informed the police, the SDRF team led by head constable Jitendra Singh were called to the spot to recover the body.  The officials said that the body was taken out of the gorge by the rescue team and was handed over to the revenue police after reaching the main road through an alternate route. According to the police, the deceased was a local who allegedly lost control of the car due to which it crashed and fell into the gorge. However, the police said they are investigating the matter.

In another incident in the district, the SDRF retrieved the body of a man from the river below Chauras Bridge in Srinagar on Monday. The officials informed that some locals observed a body in the river and informed the police who called the SDRF rescue team to retrieve the body. The team retrieved the body with the help of the raft and handed it over to the district police.  The officials said that the deceased was identified as Dhanvir Panwar, a local resident, who had allegedly jumped into the river on February 20. The police suspected that he committed suicide and have been searching for his body along with SDRF since last week. The police will investigate further after getting the post mortem report, added the officials.
