Two Nepalese swept away while crossing stream in Gangotri

Two Nepalese men were swept away during their attempt to cross a stream in Jhala village of Gangotri in Uttarkashi during the wee hours of Friday. According to the authorities, both men were returning from their work and tried to cross the stream when the water level suddenly rose and swept both of them away. The local police called a team of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to carry out the rescue operation. The SDRF team headed by head constable Sanjay Negi started the operation and found the body of Santosh (23) about 100 metres away from a bridge between Jhala and Bagodi villages in Gangotri. The officials stated that the recovered body has been handed over to the local police and the search for the second man’s body will be continued on Saturday.
