Two peddlers nabbed with smack in Kotdwar

The Kotdwar police in Pauri district arrested two drug peddlers and recovered 15.80 grammes of smack from BL Road in Kotdwar during checking drive on Sunday. The cost of the recovered contraband is said to be Rs 1,60,000. The police have registered case against arrested peddler Nadeem and Rohan Negi under 8/21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The arrested accused men are residents of Kotdwar city. This is the second smack seizure by the police within a duration of four days in Kotdwar. Prior to this police had arrested peddler Sher Khan and recovered 7.50 grammes of smack.
The police informed that the Kotdwar police team arrested two youth Nadeem (25) and Rohan Negi (23) from BL Road in the city and recovered 15.80 grammes of smack during the checking drive. The arrested accused informed the police on investigation that they had bought the contraband from a woman called Bhabhi based in Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh in order to sell it to the students of schools and colleges. The police said that Nadeem has a criminal history.
Sine assuming charge in the recent past, the Pauri senior superintendent of police Shweta Choubey has stressed on cracking down on the illegal drugs business. She has instructed the police personnel to launch the drive against drugs and organise awareness camps for youth. The SSP has appealed to the public that they should inform the nearest police station or dial 112 if they have any knowledge about drugs being sold or being consumed in public places.
