Two men died after their motorcycle collided with a truck in Ramnagar late on Sunday night. According to the police, Almora native Ajay Negi (34) and Betalghat resident Khimanand (24) were riding on a motorcycle to Ramnagar on Sunday night. The motorcycle collided with a truck near Dhikuli. The duo sustained serious injuries. They were later taken to the government hospital in Ramnagar where the doctors declared Negi dead. The seriously injured Khimanand was given primary treatment and then referred to a higher centre. However, he also succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
According to sources, the driver of the truck and the rider were both reportedly speeding. This factor along with it being the night, resulted in the accident. The truck driver ran away from the site after the mishap. The police have registered a case and are searching for the truck driver.
