Two teenagers who had come from Delhi with friends to bathe in the Ganga drowned here on Thursday. Their bodies were retrieved by police divers. The Ganga canal was closed from Wednesday midnight for annual cleaning, due to which the water level of the Ganga at Har Ki Paidi has also dropped considerably with cleaning work also underway here. The two youths from Delhi drowned while bathing in the Ganga near Har Ki Paidi. According to officials, there are sites with deep pits on the riverbed due to which the river is deeper in such places. Haridwar city Kotwal Rakendra Kathait said that the deceased teenagers have been identified as Arvind (17) and Abhishek (17).
