A two-year old girl was allegedly raped by an old man in a village near Betalghat area of Nainital district. The incident came to light on Saturday evening. The girl was taken to the BD Pandey district hospital in Nainital where she was examined and treated. The doctors also collected samples before discharging her.
According to information received, the mother of the child and others were working in the field at 4 PM on Saturday. The woman heard her child crying and went home to check. The woman saw that a neighbour was holding the girl who also had blood on her legs. The alarmed family members reached to grab the child when the 65-year-old man allegedly manhandled the mother. The family members took the girl to the nearest health centre from where she was referred to the district hospital in Nainital. Senior doctor at the hospital, Dr Draupadi Gabryal said that samples from the girl have been sent for examination and the police were also informed. Police circle officer Sumit Pandey informed that a case has been registered and the accused man has been arrested.
