Under-17 Kendriya Vidyalaya (boys) Judo and Taekwondo competitions involving Dehradun region commenced at PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya- II in Roorkee on Monday. Inaugurating the programme, the commanding officer of 2 Training Battalion, Col Harpreet Singh exhorted the students to take part in the events in a sporting spirit without worrying about winning or losing. A total of 91 players-63 for Taekwondo and 28 for Judo- from 17 KVs based across Dehradun region are participating in this competition. Speaking at the inaugural programme, the principal KV II Roorkee Arvind Kumar said that sports competitions not just make students physically and mentally strong but also instil equanimity in them. Students performed cultural programmes before the events started.
