The Uttarakhand Berozgar Sangh (UBS) president Bobby Panwar accused the Education department and the Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat of engaging in corrupt practices. He levelled the allegation while addressing the media here on Tuesday. Panwar claimed that despite multiple corruption allegations being probed against Mahavir Singh Bisht while serving as additional director and despite informing Education secretary Ravinath Raman, Bisht was still promoted to the post of Secondary Education director. Panwar also alleged that some high-ranking officials of the department are behaving like recovery agents, compromising the future of educated youth by outsourcing the recruitment of 955 positions for block and cluster resource persons to a company that does not meet the required standards. This decision excluded a local company from Uttarakhand that meets the standards. Even when this matter was brought to the High Court, the double bench ruled the selection process as incorrect. The collection of many lakhs of rupees from external companies for filling 955 positions of BRPs and CRPs in the Education department has been authorised by the department, the Education minister and the chief minister, he stated. Panwar further expressed concern that a non-standard company has been assigned the responsibility, despite not meeting the required standards and is seeking various certificates from educated youth. Panwar claimed that a corrupt company cannot be trusted to conduct transparent selections. He urged officials to reform their behaviour, warning that if they persist in their misconduct, the ongoing democratic struggle will escalate. Panwar criticised the use of outsourcing agencies for appointments, arguing that such practices should be avoided. Considering this, he also appealed to the youth to be wary of the issues and stand up for their rights.
