UBS claims UKSSSC paper leak from Haridwar centre, plans protest today

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun

Uttarakhand Berozgar Sangh (UBS) has claimed that the question paper  of the Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UKSSSC) exam held on Sunday was leaked from a centre in Haridwar.

The organisation announced that it will stage a protest in Dehradun on Monday and march toward the Secretariat, demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the matter. According to UBS president Ram Kandwal, the question paper of the exam, which began at 11 AM across 445 centres in the State, was leaked within half an hour. He said that by 11:35 AM, a set of the question paper was circulated outside and most of the questions matched those provided to candidates in the exam.

Kandwal stated that this breach undermines the confidentiality of the recruitment process. The UBS claims come a day after Dehradun police and the Special Task Force (STF) arrested two accused, Pankaj Gaur and Hakam Singh, for allegedly attempting to cheat candidates before the exam.

UBS members also claimed that they had earlier submitted an audio clip to the STF on September 9, in which Gaur allegedly demanded Rs 15 lakh from a candidate to provide the exam paper.

The organisation said that the STF began its operation after receiving this information, leading to the arrests on Saturday. Kandwal said that despite these arrests, the alleged leak during Sunday’s examination raises questions about the integrity of the recruitment process.
