The Bharatiya Janata Party opined that the day Uttarakhand implemented the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) will be remembered in golden letters in India’s history. Celebrating this landmark achievement, BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt called it a proud and historic moment, marking Uttarakhand as the first in the country to adopt the UCC on Monday. “This significant step has been achieved under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home minister Amit Shah and chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. It is a matter of immense pride for the 1.25 crore people of Uttarakhand,” Bhatt said.

He stated that the BJP had promised the people of the State equal rights for all its citizens and the implementation of the UCC reflects the party’s dedication to fulfilling its commitments. “The UCC implementation represents a fulfillment of the BJP’s promise to ensure fairness and justice for all sections of society. Our pledge to provide equality has turned into an achievement,” he added. He said that the UCC is a transformative measure aimed at empowering women, uniting society and ensuring equal rights for all. According to Bhatt, the law will act as a milestone in strengthening Matri Shakti in the State and will secure the rights of every individual irrespective of their religion or gender.
