In latest news from Uttarakhand, a review meeting involving the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) implementation was held under the chairmanship of the registrar general in charge of UCC implementation V Shanmugam in Almora. The district-specific progress in registration under UCC and the logistical hiccups facing its smooth implementation figured in the meeting. Aside from the registrar and sub-registrar, senior officials of departments concerned were present.
They spoke of the technical problems as well as the apprehensions set in in the people’s mind regarding its implementation in details. Taking cognisance of the points raised by them, the registrar general gave them the necessary directives on how to carry things forward.
