UCC writing new chapter of women empowerment in U’khand: CM

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that Uniform Civil code (UCC) is writing a new chapter for women empowerment and is proving to be a security shield for women in the State. He said that Uttarakhand has become the first State in the country to implement the UCC.
The CM said this while participating in a Holi Milan programme organised in Nagar Nigam on Wednesday.
He said that the State government is making every possible effort for the development of the State as per the aspirations of the people. The Vidhan Sabha has passed a stringent land law as per the wishes of the people of the State.Greeting people on the occasion of Holi, the CM said that the festival strengthens cultural unity and equality in the society.
The CM said that the triple engine government is committed to make the living standard of every citizen better. He said that the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) is constructing a Yoga park on a 3.5 hectare land in Kedarpuram with a sum of Rs five crore and a new park is coming up at Yamuna colony. Mechanised transfer stations are being set up at two places for high quality waste management systems in Dehradun. The MCD is also giving an award of Rs 10,000 to three sanitation workers every month. He said that the MCD has started a website named e-kosh for online payment of house tax. The CM said that Dehradun got 68th position in the country and first place in Uttarakhand in the Swachchh Survekshan in the year 2023. He expressed confidence that Dehradun’s rank will improve in this year.
Dhami said that the interest of investors in Uttarakhand is increasing and their proposals are being approved by the single window system.
He said that after taking oath on July 04, 2021 as CM, he had promised to fill all the vacant posts in the government departments. In the last three and half years more than 20,000 youngsters were provided government jobs in the State.
The Mayor of Dehradun Saurabh Thapliyal said that Uttarakhand is scaling new heights in every field under the leadership of CM Dhami. He said that the MCD is committed to provide better facilities to the people of Dehradun. He claimed that the legacy waste of the former trenching ground located at Sahastradhara road will be removed this year.
Cabinet minister Ganesh Joshi, MLAs Khajan Das, Savita Kapoor, Durgeshwar Lal, former Mayor Sunil Uniyal Gama and others attended the programme.
