UCOST celebrates sixth foundation day of RSC

The sixth foundation day of the Regional Science Centre (RSC) was celebrated at Vigyan Dham on Thursday. Uttarakhand Council for Science and Technology (UCOST) director general Rajendra Dobhal stressed on the need of growth in science and technology with a view to popularise science and develop scientific temper among the people in the state. Science City adviser GS Rautela gave a brief background history of how museums started in India. IIT Roorkee director Ajit Chaturvedi and IIT Bombay former director Ashok Misra addressed the gathering virtually and spoke of scientific temper and various research innovations by IITs.
Later, a programme on e-waste awareness, management and minimisation was held jointly by UCOST, National Mission on Himalayan Studies (NMHS) and National Academy of Science India (NASI), Uttarakhand chapter. UPES HSE programme director NA Siddiqui spoke on e-waste management for sustainable resources conservation. Prashant Raturi from SRHU delivered a hands on training on the handling/repairing of e-waste including desktops, laptops and mobile phones with battery. A number of students and faculty members of different institutions were also present on the occasion.
