A memorandum of agreement was signed between the Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology (UCOST) and the Sri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University (SDSUU) here on Thursday. It was signed by the UCOST director general Durgesh Pant and SDSUU vice chancellor NK Joshi. Pant said that this MoU will enable Uttarakhand towards becoming an empowered State and also benefit the students, researchers, scientists and the general public. Following this MoU, stress will be laid on research and development, sustainable development, livelihood related programmes in mountainous regions to check migration, intellectual and human resource development, disaster and landslide mitigation, climate change, intellectual property rights, start ups, job oriented programmes, green and renewable energy and other aspects. A patent information centre will be opened soon at the university’s Rishikesh campus, he added. Joshi said that students of the university will benefit from the scientific activities of UCOST. Students of colleges affiliated to SDSUU will also visit Vigyan Dham at UCOST which will also encourage scientific awareness in the State, he added.
