UDD changes reservation of six MCD wards

Following the objections raised by different quarters, the Urban Development Directorate (UDD) changed the reservation of six wards of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) for the urban local bodies elections scheduled to be held on January 23. The directorate issued the list on Monday. Out of the six wards, the reservation status for the municipal elections of three wards-Kaulagarh, Turner Road and Sewla Kalan have been changed from unreserved to reserved for women candidates, as per the list.
The remaining three wards are Vijay Park, Badrish Colony and Defence Colony which have been declared unreserved. These wards were earlier declared reserved for women candidates by the directorate. As per the list issued by UDD on Monday, 12 wards in Dehradun have been reserved for the candidates of Other Backward Classes (OBCs) that include reservation of four seats for OBC women candidates. +
Besides this, 13 wards have been reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates that include reservation for five wards for SC women. Also, 25 wards have been reserved for women candidates and the remaining 50 wards are unreserved.
