Udham Singh Nagar police nab accused absconding after firing at jeweller & police

The absconding accused of a police encounter in Pulbhatta area of Udham Singh Nagar after firing at a jeweller in Haldwani was arrested by the police on Tuesday. The police informed that the Rudrapur police got information about some criminals who were involved in shooting at a jeweller in Haldwani on November 2 were present in Pulbhatta area on the same day.

When police approached the criminals, they opened fire at the police with the intention of killing them despite repeated warnings, as per the police. One of the accused, Gurdeep Singh was injured during the firing after being shot in the left leg by the police. The police arrested the injured Singh while the other accused- Devendra Singh alias Gindi, Raman Kapoor alias Jimmy, Manoj Adhikari and Akash Deep Singh escaped. The police had registered an FIR against all accused at the Pulbhatta police station by the police station in-charge.

The police informed that the accused Akash Deep Singh was arrested from Alinagar Shahdora in Rudrapur on Tuesday. The police have also recovered a pistol and cartridges from Singh. The police have claimed that the accused has confessed of his involvement in shooting at the jeweller in Haldwani and firing at Rudrapur police. The police are looking for the remaining accused men who are absconding.
