With Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (UJVNL) resolved to complete the implementation of the 300 MW Lakhwar Multipurpose Project by 2031, its managing director Ajay Kumar Singh chaired a marathon review meeting with all the senior officials associated with the project on Saturday that lasted for about five hours. In the meeting, every construction activity was thoroughly reviewed in accordance with the recent reduction of the project completion deadline from 2034 to 2031 by the state’s chief secretary.
The MD directed that UJVNL should prepare its detailed micro-level action plan by ensuring more effective coordination with the executing agency, so that every activity can be completed within the stipulated time frame. “Every effort should be made to complete the project before the stipulated time through regular monitoring, quick decisions, technical coordination and accountable work culture,” he said.
During the meeting, dam construction, diversion work, tunnels, underground powerhouse, concreting, hydro-mechanical works and all other important construction activities were reviewed, point by point. Detailed discussions were held on the technical and administrative challenges faced during the construction work and necessary guidelines were provided for their prompt resolution.
Singh further stated that the Lakhwar Project is not just a hydroelectric project, but a project of national importance linked to Uttarakhand’s energy security, irrigation, drinking water availability and overall economic development.
