UJVNL can develop U’khand into leading State in power sector: Dhami

The UJVN Limited can develop Uttarakhand into a leading State in the power sector with its progressive ideas, capacity development and better work culture. Stating this, the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the power corporations will also have to play an active role in achieving the vision of making Uttarakhand an energy State as envisioned while seeking the creation of Uttarakhand State. The chief minister said this while speaking at a function held to mark the 22nd foundation day of UJVNL here on Tuesday.
Dhami said that with its progressive attitude, unprecedented capacity and high quality work culture in the hydro power sector had established its unique identity among government institutions not only in the State but also at the national level. UJVNL was created after the formation of Uttarakhand to make the state an ‘Urja Pradesh’ in the real sense. Though UJVNL has been making efforts in this direction, many challenges have to be faced in this sector, he said. The CM said, “Collective efforts are needed in order to build a prosperous Uttarakhand and achieve the vision of Urja Pradesh. We will have to make better use of the State’s natural beauty and resources while undertaking integrated efforts for the development of Uttarakhand.”
Dhami said that the State government is laying special focus on zero pendency work culture. Simplification, solution, disposal and satisfaction have been made the guiding points in all spheres for this purpose.
Power secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram and UJVNL managing director Sandeep Singhal presented a cheque of Rs 20 crore of the corporation’s dividend and PTCUL managing director PC Dhayni presented a Rs five crore dividend cheque to the chief minister on the occasion. Sundaram and Singhal also spoke about the activities, achievements and plans of the corporation on the occasion.
