UJVNL receives ‘Water Digest World Water Awards’

Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (UJVNL), a Government of Uttarakhand undertaking, has been presented with “Water Digest World Water Awards” in the “Best Initiative – Dam Safety” category. This award is given for outstanding and innovative efforts in the field of environmental protection and infrastructure development, UJVNL officers said.  Notably,  

UJVNL, with an installed capacity of 1440.60 MW, is a leading player in hydroelectric and solar power generation in the state. Expressing happiness over this achievement, the managing director, UJVNL, Ajay Kumar Singh said that this recognition is the result of the corporation’s efficient management, technical expertise and innovative personnel’s dedication to energy production.

He further informed that since 2015, UJVNL has been actively participating in the Dam Rehabilitation and Improvement Projects, operated in collaboration with the Central Water Commission and the World Bank. Citing women’s empowerment as a priority for this public sector undertaking, he said that women officers and employees are being encouraged to play an active role at project sites. “UJVNL will continue to break new ground in dam safety while maintaining its commitment to safe, reliable and clean energy production,” he added.
