The UJVN Limited is doing its bit to contribute to the State’s power supply in this challenging period by operating its hydro power projects at full capacity. The UJVNL projects have already generated more electricity than the production target set for the financial year 2022-23. According to the corporation’s managing director Sandeep Singhal, UJVNL projects have so far produced 1,066 million units (MU) compared to the target of 1,040 MU. The power generated is 102 per cent of the current target. Comparatively, the UJVNL projects had generated 736 MU of electricity during the corresponding period last year. Considering this, the projects of the corporation have generated 44 per cent more electricity as compared to the previous year. The UJVNL managing director expressed happiness at this achievement of the power houses in the corporation’s projects. He further said that the better operation of the machinery in the power houses, better maintenance and the dedicated work put in by the personnel of the corporation has resulted in production of electricity which has surpassed the target set for this period.

It is pertinent to mention here that the rise in temperatures and heat wave conditions being experienced in parts of the state this month have resulted in a considerable rise in the consumption of electricity in the State. The lakhs of people who have arrived in Uttarakhand to undertake the Char Dham Yatra has also resulted in a further increase in the consumption of electricity.
