UJVNL taking special operation & upkeep measures in monsoon

The UJVN Limited has taken various steps for operation and upkeep of its projects during the monsoon. Informing about this, the UJVNL managing director Sandeep Singhal said that necessary steps have been taken in a systematic manner for operation of its various projects and power houses during the monsoon. Active coordination and management of machines, operating mechanism, means of communication and human resources has been done for this purpose. Officials concerned have also been directed to ensure proper execution and monitoring of the same.

The UJVNL director (Operation) Purushottam Singh further informed that river discharge and silt parts per million (PPM) are being recorded mandatorily in the log book. Constant coordination is being maintained with power houses situated upstream of dams and barrages so that additional alertness can be observed before more water reaches dams and barrages. The headquarter is also being informed about discharge and PPM. From the viewpoint of safety, the machines in the powerhouse are being run only to the fixed limit of PPM.

Apart from this, any personnel posted at dams and barrages are not being sanctioned leave except in unavoidable circumstances. The additional engineer along with assistant engineer and executive engineer are inspecting the dams and barrages during the night shift from 9 PM to 6 AM. In addition to putting up boards alerting people to stay away from rivers, sirens and vehicles are being used to inform the people downstream before releasing water from dams and barrages, said Singh. Apart from these measures, the officials concerned were also directed to complete other preparations in view of the possibility of disasters during the monsoon season, he added.
