UKA & DOA Haridwar observe International Olympic Day

The Uttarakhand Kabaddi Association in association with the District Olympic Association, Haridwar celebrated International Olympic Day at the Rajesh Pilot Stadium in Khanpur. Addressing the gathering the treasurer of Uttarakhand Olympic Association Mahesh Joshi said that Olympic Day has been held annually across the world since 1948 as per the guidelines of International Olympic Committee. He said that through sports, about 200 countries around the world are working towards the physical and mental development of the youth, making a bond of brotherhood among them and working without the discrimination based on caste, religion, racism etc. On this occasion, Khanpur police station head Mohan Singh Rawat felicitated the girl players Bhoomi, Sameeksha and Ayushi who won medals in the National Kabaddi Competition. District Youth Welfare Officer Pramod Pandey felicitated kabaddi player Krish and coach Ravi who won first place in the Andaman Beach Games. State Kabaddi Association general secretary Chetan Joshi and senior coach Rishipal Singh while teaching the players about the game told them various tricks to make their game better. Matches of boys and girls of the sub-junior Kabaddi team were also conducted in the sports ground of Hariram Inter College, Kankhal to mark the occasion.
